Arsenal prospect Marcelo Flores makes Mexico senior debut aged 18

Arsenal youngster Marcelo Flores made his senior debut for Mexico tonight.

The 18-year-old, who joined Arsenal as a schoolboy from Ipswich Town, is also eligible to represent England or Canada on the senior stage.

However, it appears that Flores’ focus is on Mexico for now at least, with the prospect entering the fray in a 2-2 draw against Chile in a friendly that was played in the United States.

Flores only entered the fray in the 83rd minute, but it was still a memorable experience for him and he will hope to make many more international appearances in the future.

Arsenal now have four senior internationals in their academy setup. As well as Flores, Daniel Ballard, who is on loan at Millwall, is a Northern Ireland international. In addition, Karl Hein has been capped by Estonia and Omar Rekik has represented Tunisia. Deyan Iliev has also been called up by North Macedonia on many occasions but has yet to make his debut.
