Ethan Nwaneri was amongst the academy players to train with the Arsenal first-team squad at London Colney today.

Omar Rekik, Reuell Walters, Lino Sousa also took part in the session ahead of tomorrow’s game away to Nottingham Forest.

Winger Kamarni Ryan, who turns 18 today, also trained with the squad along with 17-year-old midfielder Bless Akolbire.

There could be at least one space on the bench for an academy player against Forest, with Thomas Partey not yet ready to be named in the matchday squad.

Declan Rice and Gabriel will be assessed ahead of the game.

  1. what do you think the plan is with Rekik?

he was one of the first purchases under Arteta as i recall

was/is there an intention to try him eventually for the first team squad?

    1. He’s a good player but it might be difficult for him to get a chance in the first team even as a squad player. He probably needs to go on loan again really but a decision on his long term future will need to be made soon.

  2. I would like to see Rekik join the 1st team squad until the end of the season, but in the summer i think he will be one of a long list of players born 2002 or after to make a move.
Runarsson, Hillson, Hein, Cedric Rekik, Tierney, Tavares, Elneny, Partey, Jorginho, Azeez, Cirjan, Sambi, John-Jules, Taylor-Hart, Nketiah.
Not as big a clear out as last season, but then again players like Ramsdale, Kiwior, Vieira, Nelson and Smith Rowe may also need to be convinced to stay. Then there is a whole list of 2nd years and young pros who have not really hit the heights. 10 keepers out of contract also 😳

  3. My dream deadline day

Arsenal offer to make the Raya deal permanent and pay the £27m required, they also agree an £8m loan fee for Toney with an obligation to pay £80m in the summer. Brentford accept Nketiah to cover the £35m.

Cedric moves on Rekik gets promoted to the first team.

Tierney gets recalled, Tavares and Sambi are sold permanently.
