Cirjan set to join Azeez and Musah in Arsenal’s exciting new scholarship intake

Arsenal U18s may have just won the southern section title, but attention is already beginning to turn to next season, when the club will welcome a new crop of scholars.

Some of the players in this intake will already be hugely familiar to watchers of the U18s, with highly regarded midfielders Miguel Azeez and Yunus Musah, both of whom are England youth internationals, set to continue their development at the club next campaign.

They will be joined by Catalin Cirjan (pictured), a Romanian youth international midfielder who signed for the club earlier this year.

Goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk, a product of Arsenal’s Hale End academy, has already made the bench for the U23s and is set to sign scholarship terms, as is defender Mazeed Ogungbo, who can play at centre-back or left-back and has featured in the FA Youth Cup.

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji has also been offered a deal along with talented winger Kido Taylor-Hart.

It is anticipated that Daniel Oyegoke, Levi Laing and Alex Kirk will be offered contracts, although this is yet to be confirmed.

There could well be further additions to the scholarship intake, while there is a possibility that any of the above players could turn down the offer of a deal.

The likes of Charlie Patino, Taylor Foran, Malcolm Ebiowei, Pedro Virginia, Remy Mitchell and new signing Marcelo Flores will not be eligible to sign scholarship terms until the summer of 2020.

  1. Are there any other Arsenal players in the Euro U17 championship squads? Apart from Azeez, Musah and Greenwood for England.
