Hector Bellerin continued his impressive development at Watford by setting up Christian Battocchio after running with the ball from his own half. Bellerin completed the entirety of his side’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United and directed a header wide in the first-half.

Wellington, meanwhile, received a rare start for Murcia and made the most of the opportunity, setting up a goal for Tete Daniel Jiminez. Wellington also struck the crossbar with a fierce strike before being withdrawn in the 65th minute.

Joel Campbell played the whole game as Olympiacos beat Asteras Tripolis 2-0. In the Bundesliga Francis Coquelin started Freiburg’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Wolfsburg on the left wing, but was substituted after 48 minutes, whilst Johan Djourou couldn’t prevent Hamburg from losing 1-0 to Augsburg.

Ignasi Miquel completed the entirety of Leicester City’s 3-1 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, whilst Damian Martinez was beaten by a strike from Simon Cox as Sheffield Wednesday lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest. Nico Yennaris was again an un-used substitute as Bournemouth beat Reading 2-1.

Anthony Jeffrey started and was impressive as Boreham Wood drew 2-2 away to Bath City, with the winger causing numerous problems for the opposition with his pace. Austin Lipman emerged as a substitute with 21 minutes remaining, despite playing the entire second-half for Arsenal U18s in their Youth Cup victory over Torquay United less than 24 hours earlier.

Josh Vickers wasn’t involved for Canvey Island this weekend after also featuring in the Youth Cup and Chuks Aneke’s Crewe Alexandra side did not have a fixture to fulfil.

  1. Wasn’t that impressed with jenkinson yesterday, I’m very aware he had a defensive job todo because Everton was very good, he didn’t seem to have is normal energy yesterday to get forward. I really like what I have seen off bellerin and he a couple younger then jenko

    1. Jenkinson is far more experienced than bellerin and is playing at a far higher level than hector so he stays for now

  2. @tony – i disagree with ur observation. jenkinson did really well yesterday. his defending had to be on the money as everton targeted him right throughout the game. he needs a run of games though to play with more confidence.

  3. Bellerin played as a right wing back for Watford. He was always likely to show going forward than Jenkinson could as a right fullback in a premiership game against a top 4 contenders.
Bellerin is very good going forward, but a 3-3 game is not really the best game to sing his defensive praise.
I also suspect that Sagna was saved for Wednesday game. The good thing was how The BFG was shouting instruction to Jenkinson. Maybe some of Per’s positional sense will rub off on him.

  4. Jenkinson had a lot to do defensively when out top midfielders lost the ball so many times in the middle. We did fine defensively. Everton had a lot of the ball but we created the most dangerous chances and Howard saved them a few times. Could be 2-0 by halftime for us.
