Greek midfielder Savvas signs Arsenal scholarship

Arsenal held a celebratory evening for next season’s scholarship intake at London Colney on Thursday, and, amongst the numerous Hale End graduates, there was a less familiar face, with Greek midfielder Mourgos Savvas in attendance.

Savvas, who impressed whilst on trial during the Ferroli Cup, will add depth to Arsenal’s U18 squad next season following the impending departures of James Blanchfield and Ovie Ejaria. The majority of the remainder of the intake is locally produced, with the likes of Kaylen Hinds and George Dobson having received call-ups in the UEFA Youth League last season.

Chris Willock, who had been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United, also attended and seems set to continue his development at Arsenal, whilst Swedish centre-back Kristopher Da Graca will complete his move to the club in the Summer.

There may yet be further players added to the group, with the club still actively pursuing a goalkeeper to provide cover for Ryan Huddart.

Viktoria Plzen striker Martin Graiciar also seems to set to move to Arsenal, although the transfer will not be formally completed until he turns 16 next April.
