Folarin Balogun trains with England senior squad

Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun trained with the England senior squad at St George’s Park today.

With some members of the senior team missing, Balogun was one of four players from the England U21 squad who were called up for the session, with Morgan Gibbs-White, Jacob Ramsey and Taylor Harwood-Bellis also selected.

So far Balogun has scored four goals in seven appearances for England U21s, while he also previously represented the United States, where he was born, at U18 level.

Balogun recently returned to Arsenal from a loan spell at Middlesbrough and will be pushing for first-team involvement next season.

He is in the England U21 squad along with Emile Smith Rowe ahead of games against Czech Republic, Kosovo, Albania and Slovenia.

  1. Nice for Flo, a slap in the face for Emile.

I worry for Emile and even Martinelli for next season. The calls for better players a new centre forward and a winger would surely mean the front line will be be Saka, new CF, new winger. Meaning the back up will be ESR, Nketiah and Martinelli? I do not have too much problem with this as all 3 back ups are quite young, as long as they are ok with that?

Our midfield 3 is likely to be odegaard, Partey, new signing. Elneny Xhaka and Sambi as back up.

Our defence is likely to be Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, Tierney, with Cedric, Holding, Saliba, Tavares as back up.

Ramsdale, Turner, Runarrsson as our 3 keepers

Arteta said he wants 22 outfield players and 3 keepers, meaning he will want 3 other players to join that group. Probably 1 defender, 1 midfielder and 1 forward. If it is current players I would go with Bellerin, Maitland-Niles and Balogun.
