Arsenal enter negotiations with Vojovdina for Daniel Aleksić

Serbian striker Daniel Aleksić could be Arsenal’s first signing of the summer after the Gunners entered negotiations for the player with his club FK Vojovdina.

17 year-old Aleksić has caught the eye with some breathtaking displays and starred for his country at the UEFA U-17 European Championships last summer, before making his debut for the senior side in December.

His form initially attracted interest from Red Star and Partizan Belgrade- two of Serbia’s biggest clubs-before rumours emerged last month that Spanish giants Real Madrid and Villarreal were also scouting him.

However, Arsenal’s interest could prove to be particularly appealing to Aleksić as he knows that he will have a signficant chance of making the first-team under Arsene Wenger. Rumours continue to persist about Gilles Sunu’s future, whilst Rhys Murphy’s injury problems are a concern.

Arsenal have now entered into negotiations with the player but may attempt to lower the £10 million asking price.

Below are two short videos of the player in action, including footage of his spectacular bicycle kick against Scotland U17’s last summer.

  1. great… another 17yr old, just wat we need!!! he’ll pay money for kids but not experience????

  2. We have offered £6million so far.Story is is that we are willing to pay £12million in instalements for Mamadou Sakho.

  3. shut up you silly fools man making stupid comments about arsene wenger can u or anyone in ur family do the job he has been doing and i hope for him to do till the future ends i guess not hey??? and yeah ive heard about SAKHO from he is a great player but i still think that this kid will only turn out to be a truly great kid reminds me a bit of eduardo

  4. We desperatley need a CB i wish arsenal could go for someone like haangeland or Agger. Mamadou Sakho is 6ft4 fast mobile LEFT FOOTED CENTRE HALF. would be a a great signing. Alexsic is one of the best young strikers in the world. Hes got pace, trickery could be the next fernando torres

  5. dont think we will go after him, since last summer im sure wenger will have learnt…also i think this kid would find it’s not so easy repeating that bicycle kick when surrounded by the likes of terry and ferdinand…silly buy if it happens

  6. So if we sign him, what will this mean for players such as Carlos Vela, Jay Simpson and Benik Afobe, Sunu, and the lad we got from gillingham.

  7. Arsenal watched Aleksić several times in the past two years. Francis Cagigao is responsible for him, and he was coming to Serbia five to six times, last time in March, but there were other scouts as well.

Vojvodina (it`s not Vojovdina) is expecting a lot of money, because Danijel (not Daniel) is one of the top 5 young players in Europe. He is pacy, smart finnisher and, which is very important, mentally extremely stable.

However, I`m not sure for this news about negotiations. Where did you find it? First time I heard.

  8. If you could have payed 10 million for Torres 7 years ago, would you not have done it? Stop whining about youth signings all the time. What I wonder, though, is where he will fit in. He is about to turn 18 and if we buy him for a large sum (even considerably lower than 10 millions) he will not be joining the reserves but going straight into the first team (just like Ramsey did). The question is, how will that work out with Adebayor, RvP, Eduardo, Nick, Vela, Walcott and Simpson all here already? I think the only thing we know is that somebody is bound to leave this club in the summer.

  9. Simpson is most likely to leave of the strikers. I queried whether we needed Aleskic to begin with. Our priority is to toughen up the defence and goalie positions. After that we need to get an experienced midfielder. Attack is fine.

  10. we dont need another striker, wenger needs to spend 10 million plus on a centre back, thats were the real weakness in the team is,if he does not we will continue to come up short in the big games and continue to be second best to man utd and chelsea, ive been saying it for two summers now.over to you mr wenger.

  11. What do you have to say about the Setanta report regarding Wellington (http://www.setanta.com//uk/Articles/Football/2009/04/20/Prem-Wellington-close-to-Arsenal-deal/gnid-49373/)?

That guy from the Arseblog chat who has all the insight information from Arsenal once reported that about him during his trial. He said that the staff didn’t talk about anything else the next week and he was the best young player he had ever seen. I really hope we sign this kid. That would leave us with the best pair of U-18 strikers in the whole of Europe, Wellington and Afobe.

  12. Jeorge, why did you delete my previous comment?

Arsenal is watching Аleksić more than 20 months. Arsenal`s senior scout Francis Cagigao was soming to Serbia 5 or 6 times, last time in March.
Vojvodina (not Vojovdina) is expecting a lot of money for Danijel (not Daniel), because he`s one of the top 5 young talents in Europe. He`s pacy, smart finnisher, and extremly mentaly stable as well.
However, I`m not sure for this story about negotiations… What is your source?

  13. The manager decides who he wants in his team so if Wenger wants the player its his perogative not the fans.

  14. Seriously, think about the clubs transfer policy before you go rantig about 10 million etc.

Itl be something like 4 mil up front, 1 more after his first senor game.

1 more after first champions legue game

    1 more after first goal

    1 more after first hatrick

2.5 more after he succesfully brings democracy to Cuba

and an odd combination of league and cup winning bonuses at variying amounts pro-rata’d on the exact number of minutes he played in the competition compared to the teams average age divided and hair length.

none of our transfers are streight forward cash, it all just means wer not to overly commited.

but then does anyone actually think wer going to sign him anyway?
