A midfielder who is a superb passer, Smith gained further experience of senior football last season while on loan at Doncaster Rovers.
Although Doncaster suffered relegation from League One, Smith received much praise for some of his performances as he built on the experience that he gained at Swindon Town and Charlton Athletic.
The Hale End product is approaching the stage where a concrete decision will need to be made about his Arsenal future, although it is possible that he could be loaned out again.
Smith was named on the bench for the Arsenal first-team on several occasions towards the end of the 2019/20 season, including for the FA Cup success against Chelsea. He has much experience of youth football at Arsenal and won the southern section title with the U18s in 2018/19.
