A Macedonian U21 goalkeeper who joined Arsenal in 2012, Deyan was awarded a new three-year contract with the club late last season despite some inconsistent performances at U21 level.

Possessing good reflexes, the youngster missed much of last season through injury, but still managed to make seven appearances for the U21s.

His performances were marred by several errors, however, including a red card away to Middlesbrough. In previous campaigns the youngster featured for the club at U19 level in European competition.

This season Deyan will compete with Matt Macey and Ryan Huddart as he attempts to establish himself as Arsenal’s first-choice shot-stopper at U21 level, whilst it is also possible that he could go on loan at some point this campaign to further his development.

  1. Not quite sure why he was given a new contract recently, doesn’t seem to have done anything to merit this ‘reward’.
