Hugely-promising midfielder Dan continued to develop apace last season as established himself as a regular for Arsenal’s U21 side and was one of Arsenal’s outstanding performers at that level.
Nominally a central-midfielder, he was often deployed on the left flank by Steve Gatting, but that didn’t lessen his influence on proceedings as he scored five goals in 20 appearances for the second-string, including a brace at home to Middlesbrough.
An excellent passer and dribbler, Dan also featured in the UEFA Youth League, captaining the young Gunners in their final group game against Galatasaray. He hit a hat-trick against Anderlecht in that competition.
The midfielder has long been earmarked as a talent of the future and joined Arsenal from Aston Villa in 2013 amidst considerable publicity.
He received his maiden call-up to the first-team squad for the pre-season trip to Asia and impressed against a Singapore Select XI. It was decided thereafter that the youngster would spend the first half of the new campaign on loan in League One with Barnsley.
Dan will be seeking to impress sufficiently to earn an extension to his loan deal, whilst he will also have designs on breaking back into the England set-up, having previously represented the Three Lions at U17 level.
