57. BEN SHEAF (On loan at Coventry City, until May 2021)

Born: February 5th 1998

Position: Central-midfield

International: England U18

First-team appearances: 3

Loan spells: Stevenage, Doncaster Rovers

One of the most experienced players in the youth setup, Sheaf joined Arsenal from West Ham United’s academy in 2014.

Capable of playing in midfield or at centre-back, he gained valuable experience in League One last season as he featured regularly for Doncaster Rovers, where he built upon his previous loan spell at Stevenage.

Sheaf has made three competitive first-team appearances for Arsenal, but has yet to play in the Premier League.

The youngster is now at the stage of his career where he needs to be playing regularly, so it wouldn’t be a major surprise if he was to leave Arsenal permanently soon.

  1. Watched him at the U19 tournament in Durban, in both the games against PSV.

We ended up calling him Ramsey by the end of the tournament – he looked very similar, played the same central midfield box to box position, played in the same way and wore number 16.

He seemed solid, although lacked the cute ball control of Zelalem, while having a superior physique. With 3 goals in the tournament, plus the player of the tournament award, perhaps his goalscoring form is changing?
