Reuell Walters makes first senior appearance as Arsenal XI beat Ipswich in friendly

Defender Reuell Walters was involved as an Arsenal XI beat Ipswich Town in a behind closed doors friendly at London Colney today.

According to Arsenal Fixture News, Arsenal ran out 5-1 winners with Eddie Nketiah scoring a hat-trick while Albert Sambi Lokonga and Folarin Balogun also got on the scoresheet.

17-year-old Walters enjoyed an excellent first season at Arsenal as he established himself as a key player for the U23s despite still being a first year.

This is the first time that the right-back has been involved with the senior squad in a game. He recently represented England at U18 level.

A host of youngsters were involved in the second half, with Alex Kirk, Zach Awe, Lino Sousa, Matt Smith, Salah-Eddine, Charlie Patino, Omari Hutchinson and Marcelo Flores all featuring. Jack Henry-Francis and Mazeed Ogungbo were on the bench.

Miguel Azeez and Zak Swanson weren’t involved having missed training yesterday.

With regards to first-team players, Rob Holding and Alex Runarsson didn’t feature.

Arsenal starting team: Leno, Bellerin, White, Mari, Cedric, Partey, Maitland-Niles, Pepe, Lokonga, Nelson, Nketiah.

Second half team: A. Okonkwo, Walters, Kirk, Awe, Sousa, M. Smith, Salah-Eddine, Patino, Hutchinson, Balogun, Flores. Subs: Henry-Francis, Ogungbo.
