Balogun scores brace; Smith Rowe assists as England U21s beat Albania

Folarin Balogun scored a brace in England U21s’ 3-0 victory over Albania tonight. The result means the U21s will compete at next year’s European Championship.

Balogun was assisted by his Arsenal team-mate Emile Smith Rowe for England’s first goal just before half time and he added another in the 66th minute.

For the first goal Smith Rowe won the ball and played it across the face of goal for Balogun to score.

This brace means that Balogun has now scored six goals in just eight games for England U21s and he will surely have designs on breaking Eddie Nketiah’s record of 16 goals at that level.

Smith Rowe played 61 minutes tonight with Balogun being withdrawn in the 71st minute as he was replaced by Cameron Archer, who went on to find the net himself.

Meanwhile, Reuell Walters played the first half as England U18s beat Austria 3-2.

Bradley Ibrahim was an unused substitute after receiving his first callup at that level.
