Catalin Cirjan has signed a new contract with Arsenal, the club has announced.
The news will be a major boost for the midfielder, who missed the whole season due to injury.
Cirjan’s new deal will provide him with extra time to build up his sharpness and hopefully impress for the U23s next season.
If all goes well then he could become involved with the first-team in some capacity, perhaps in the Europa League.
Signed in 2019, Cirjan’s first season at Arsenal was a resounding success as he showcased his flair and excelled for the U18s.
However, his second campaign was more of a struggle as he flitted between the U18s and the U23s, while at times he was used out wide rather than centrally.
A lot has changed since Cirjan last took to the field, with younger players such as Charlie Patino and Jack Henry-Francis having pushed on.
However, all hope is not lost for the 19-year-old and he will be relishing the chance to return to action in pre-season as he looks to prove that his dream of making it at Arsenal is still achievable.
