Catalin Cirjan’s new contract gives him security after injury frustration

Catalin Cirjan has signed a new contract with Arsenal, the club has announced.

The news will be a major boost for the midfielder, who missed the whole season due to injury.

Cirjan’s new deal will provide him with extra time to build up his sharpness and hopefully impress for the U23s next season.

If all goes well then he could become involved with the first-team in some capacity, perhaps in the Europa League.

Signed in 2019, Cirjan’s first season at Arsenal was a resounding success as he showcased his flair and excelled for the U18s.

However, his second campaign was more of a struggle as he flitted between the U18s and the U23s, while at times he was used out wide rather than centrally.

A lot has changed since Cirjan last took to the field, with younger players such as Charlie Patino and Jack Henry-Francis having pushed on.

However, all hope is not lost for the 19-year-old and he will be relishing the chance to return to action in pre-season as he looks to prove that his dream of making it at Arsenal is still achievable.

  1. This clamour for untried kids playing Europa league is getting silly now.

On one hand we want Champions League, supporters are going crazy at Arteta to spend millions, then you read let’s get players with a handful of U23 appearances into the 2nd best European tournament, when we need to win it.

Sorry those days have to be behind us next season, if a player is ready to play then fair enough, but a handful of u23 appearances, no way. Look at Ballard, 66 first team appearances, 10 international caps and still the club are thinking he is not good enough. Look at Balogun, people wanted him in the first team, he went to Middlesbrough and flattered to deceive. Look at Pepe £72m after 1 good season, pathetic player for Arsenal.

Please put these boys development into perspective.
