Marcelo Flores to be part of Arsenal travelling squad against Crystal Palace

Marcelo Flores will be part of Arsenal’s travelling squad for tomorrow night’s game against Crystal Palace.

It represents a maiden first-team callup for Flores, who has already been capped by Mexico at senior level.

Flores had been set to play for the U23s against Manchester City at Emirates Stadium tomorrow night but he will instead be with the senior squad.

The news was revealed by the player’s father on Twitter, and it seems likely that Flores will be on the bench at Selhurst Park, although it is possible that he could travel as the extra man.

Arguably Arsenal’s standout young prospect, Flores has broken into the U23 squad in the second half of this season and has produced some impressive performances, scoring three goals in eight games in Premier League 2.

An attacking midfielder, he has often been used on the left flank for the U23s and possesses excellent close control, while he is an impressive finisher.

The 18-year-old joined Arsenal from Ipswich Town as a schoolboy in 2019 and has also been called up by Canada at international level.
