Tim Akinola unlikely to play for Dundee United again as midfielder returns to Arsenal due to injury

Tim Akinola is unlikely to play for his loan club Dundee United again this season.

The midfielder joined the Scottish side on loan but was given just 45 minutes of action before struggling for playing time thereafter.

Akinola suffered an injury in training last week and has returned to Arsenal to work on his recovery.

Although he is still technically on loan at Dundee United, the nature of the injury means that he probably won’t return to Scotland.

As reported by The Scottish Daily Express, Dundee United manager Tam Courts said: “He had a training ground knock and went down to get that scanned with Arsenal. It looks like he has had to go down and do rehab there.

“I don’t actually think we’ll see him playing for us again this season.

“It was a really challenging time for him. He played against St Johnstone at a time when we were searching for form and results.

“We changed the formation after that game and started to get a bit more consistency in performance. He found it tough to get back in the team.”
