Olayinka returns from injury; Hutchinson and Swanson train with Arsenal first-team

There was a strong contingent of academy players involved in first-team training ahead of tomorrow night’s game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Notably, midfielder James Olayinka took part in the session as he stepped up his recovery from injury. The 21-year-old hasn’t played since having to be substituted against Chelsea U21s in the Papa John’s Trophy on January 11th.

Winger Omari Hutchinson, who was an unused substitute against Brentford last weekend, also took part in the session along with defender Zak Swanson.

Centre-back Jonathan Dinzeyi trained with the squad despite not having played for the U23s since he was recalled from a loan spell at Carlisle United. U18s midfielder Mauro Bandeira was also called upon and recent recruit Lino Sousa was involved again.

  1. Good to see some of the senior academy players being involved. They may not have a future, but no harm having once last look

A few times we have let them move on, but rarely do we make too many mistakes, ie JET, Aneke, Freeman, Afobe, Bramall. Many youngsters of big promise have passed through the door, but still had long careers. Just not at the level required
