Arsenal defender Brooke Norton-Cuffy joins Lincoln City on loan

Arsenal youngster Brooke Norton-Cuffy has joined League One side Lincoln City on loan until the end of the season.

Norton-Cuffy, who is usually deployed at right-back but is also capable of playing at centre-back in a three-man defence, only turned 18 recently and is the first of the club’s 2020 scholars to go out on loan.

An England youth international, Norton-Cuffy was eligible to play for Arsenal U18s this season but has instead featured heavily for the U23s, although he had a spell out injured earlier in the campaign.

In total, when the appearances he made last season are taken into account, Norton-Cuffy has played 17 times for Arsenal at U23/U21 levels.

Norton-Cuffy is an impressive reader of the game who is adept at making precisely-timed interceptions.

His temporary departure could lead to first-year scholar Reuell Walters getting more playing time for the U23s.

  1. With the new theme at the club, being to reduce the first team squad to lower than the covid minimum requirement, we may have to start calling up schoolboys who haven’t yet had to start the vaccine process.

  2. I fully support squad reduction, as it makes no sense that these young lads don’t get playing time. But any loan is only useful if our players get the nod regularly.
