Deyan Iliev, one of Arsenal’s longest serving players, has left the club after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.
Iliev joined Arsenal in 2012 and had two loan spells at Sered as well as stints with Jagiellonia Bialystok and Shrewsbury Town.
A former Macedonia youth international, the 26-year-old has been called up by North Macedonia at senior level on many occasions but has yet to earn a cap.
Iliev spent two years out injured but leaves having played over 50 times for Arsenal at youth level, while he was on the bench for the first team on several occasions, including for the Europa League final defeat to Chelsea in 2019. At youth level he featured for the U23s in their title winning season of 2017/18.
Possessing impressive reflexes, he looked set for a bright future at Arsenal at one stage, but inconsistency let him down and it is now the right time for Iliev to start a new chapter in his career.
He is now a free agent after terminating his loan deal with Sered.
It has to be the most difficult position to break into the team from not least a top EPL team.
Good luck to the lad as he still, even at 26, has a long career ahead of him.
