Arsenal U18s suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to West Ham United today as they dropped to sixth place in the table.

The young Gunners were without several players who featured against West Ham’s U23 side last night, with Khayon Edwards, Marcelo Flores, Reuell Walters and Zach Awe all unavailable.

Charles Sagoe Jr and Mauro Bandeira, who were on the bench last night, both started, while Amario Cozier-Duberry and Amani Richards wee both called upon.

Elian Quesada-Thorn, who had been out since September due to injury, was named amongst the substitutes.

Subs: Quamina (for Robinson, 54), Roberts (for Richards, 62), Quesada-Thorn (for Sagoe Jr, 81). Not used: Kovacevic, Green.

After a goalless first half, Arsenal made a change in the 54th minute, with Tino Quamina replacing Josh Robinson.

A minute later West Ham took the lead as Regan Clayton found the net.

Arsenal then introduced Mathaeus Roberts in place of Richards, but West Ham proceeded to add to their lead, with Callum Marshall scoring.

Quesada-Thorn made his comeback as he came on for Sagoe Jr.

There was still time for West Ham to inflict further damage on Arsenal, with substitute Gideon Kadua scoring just five minutes after coming on.

This was a frustrating result for Arsenal, who will look to bounce back when they face Chelsea at home next weekend.

One comment

  1. Shame it took the EPL so long to decide about Sundays match. Had we known Friday we could have played stronger sides in both matches against West Ham and may be achieved better results. I understand Tottenham’s frustration, but Arsenal too have been the victims of postponements and covid decisions. None more so the first match of the season and the recent change to the carabao cup semi-final. That said I am pretty certain we will field a side on Thursday before, Salah, Mane and Keita return from Afcon. If Comoros draw or better with Ghana or Gabon draw or better with Morocco, then Ghana will be out and Partey could get home by Thursday.
