Taylor Foran and Mauro Bandeira called up to Arsenal first-team for QPR friendly

Second year scholars Taylor Foran and Mauro Bandeira received their first senior callups for Arsenal’s friendly against QPR at London Colney today.

Centre-back Foran has amassed 21 appearances for Arsenal’s U18 side, who he frequently captains.

The tough-tackling defender has also played twice for the U23s, which included making his debut at that level in bizarre circumstances as a substitute goalkeeper against Manchester City last season.

All-action midfielder Bandeira, who, like Foran, is 17 years old, is another product of the club’s Hale End academy.

Bandeira is effective at breaking up play and has also started to make more of an impact with his passes in the final third.

The Portuguese youngster has yet to make his competitive debut for the U23s but he has been on the bench in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Foran and Bandeira are both looking to earn professional contracts at Arsenal ahead of next season.

  1. The Guardian next generation series raked Ruelle Walters as the best 16 year old at the club. Would love to here your opinion, jeorge.

    1. Walters has done very well and is involved regularly with the U23s. Cozier-Duberry is one of the best prospects in that group. Richards as well, although he has hardly played this season.
