Tolaji Bola’s Arsenal career has come to an end, with the defender signing for Rotherham United on a permanent basis.
A product of the club’s Hale End academy, Bola featured for the U18s as a schoolboy and went on to feature prominently at that level.
Often deployed as a centre-back when he was younger, Bola was then deployed at left-back on a regular basis and went on to make 56 appearances for the U23s, which included playing a key part in the Premier League 2 title success in the 2017-18 campaign.
Bola managed to get on the bench for the first-team against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup in 2019 and featured against Aston Villa in a friendly the following week, but he departs without having made a competitive appearance for the first-team.
The erstwhile England youth international endured struggles with injury during his time at Arsenal and had a loan spell at Rochdale last season that didn’t work out as anticipated.
It had been clear for some time that Bola wouldn’t make it at Arsenal, especially when he wasn’t called into action when the first-team had a crisis at left-back.
Bola now heads to League One as he looks to enjoy a successful career away from Arsenal.
