Miguel Azeez could face Arsenal U23s for England U19s tomorrow

Miguel Azeez could find himself in an unusual situation tomorrow while representing England U19s.

The midfielder is one of the standout players in Arsenal’s U23 squad but he is set to face the Gunners tomorrow in a friendly at St George’s Park.

The game will kick off at 12pm, with Azeez part of a talented England squad that includes Harvey Elliott, Lewis Bate and former Arsenal youngster Sam Greenwood.

England’s youth teams have scheduled games against club opposition in order to not travel abroad during the current circumstances.

Kido Taylor-Hart has been included in the Arsenal squad, with Folarin Balogun and Catalin Cirjan amongst the others that could feature.

Meanwhile, Arsenal U18s face Reading away in the league at 11am tomorrow.

Coach Ken Gillard will be without goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk and defenders Daniel Oyegoke and Brooke Norton-Cuffy, who have been called up to the England U18 squad.

Arsenal beat Blackburn Rovers in the FA Youth Cup but have struggled for form in the league.

Gillard’s side have been drawn away to West Ham United in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup, with the winners of that tie to face Leicester City, Manchester United or Liverpool away.

Possible Arsenal U23 team: T. Smith; Alebiosu, Dinzeyi, Bola, Lopez; Akinola, Cirjan; Coyle, Taylor-Hart, Lewis; Balogun.

Subs: Mitchell, Kirk, Monlouis, Ideho.

Possible Arsenal U18 team: Ejeheri; Awe, Foran, Ogungbo, Jeffcott; Bandeira, Henry-Francis; Hutchinson, Vigar, Sagoe Junior; Edwards.

Subs: Kovacevic, Gaspar, Flores.

  1. Three schoolboys in the starting XI and three more on the bench, what a great effort by the lads not least with half the team on yellow cards.
