Report – Charles Sagoe makes debut as Arsenal U18s are held by Aston Villa

Arsenal U18s were held to a goalless draw by Aston Villa at the latter’s Bodymoor Heath training ground today.

Coach Ken Gillard made three changes, with Ovie Ejeheri, Taylor Foran and Joel Ideho coming in for Hubert Graczyk, Zach Awe and Mazeed Ogungbo.

Neither side were able to make the breakthrough in the first half, and Arsenal were forced into a change ahead of the second period when Nathan Butler-Oyedeji being replaced by Billy Vigar.

In the 76th minute 16-year-old winger Charles Sagoe, who has had to be patient for opportunities in his first season as a scholar, was brought on for his U18s debut in place of Joel Ideho.

The game ended goalless, with Arsenal remaining in seventh place in the U18 Premier League. Gillard’s side have nine league games remaining this season, starting with a trip to face Norwich City on Saturday.
