Arsenal defender Zach Awe set to sign first professional contract

Talented defender Zach Awe is set to sign his first professional contract with Arsenal.

The tall centre-back turned 17 last month and was included in Arsenal’s updated Europa League squad, which indicates that he has been offered professional terms.

Awe, who has trained with the first-team, has made nine appearances for the U18s this season and has also broken into the U23 squad, making his debut at that level in the 6-0 thrashing of Blackburn Rovers.

The England youth international is set to become the latest member of the 2020 scholarship intake to sign professional terms after Charlie Patino, Omari Hutchinson, Marcelo Flores, Zane Monlouis and Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
