There has already been some activity regarding Arsenal’s U23 players on deadline day, with Matt Smith being recalled from his loan spell at Swindon Town so that he can spend the rest of the season on loan at another League One club in Charlton Athletic.
Smith started off very well at Swindon and made 26 appearances in total, during which he scored twice and provided four assists.
However, Smith lost his place in the side in recent weeks as he didn’t suit the change in approach from new manager John Sheridan.
The switch to Charlton should suit Smith much better, with Lee Bowyer’s side seemingly a better fit for the youngster.
Elsewhere, centre-back Joseph Olowu will reportedly spend the rest of the season with Wealdstone in the National League, according to All Nigeria Soccer.
Olowu previously spent time on loan at Cork City and has recently featured for Arsenal U23s. The 21-year-old’s loan to Wealdstone, if it is officially confirmed, is set to take him to the end of his Arsenal contract, which expires this summer.
Southend United, meanwhile, have yet to provide an update on whether James Olayinka will be remaining with them on loan. The midfielder is currently out injured but his deal could be extended.
Other players who could benefit from a loan before the deadline include players who recently returned from spells elsewhere, such as Zech Medley, Trae Coyle, Tolaji Bola and Deyan Iliev.
