Cirjan amongst five youngsters to train with first-team but prospect hasn’t officially been promoted

Catalin Cirjan trained with the Arsenal first-team today but, contrary to claims made by his agent, the prospect hasn’t yet officially been promoted to the senior squad.

Cirjan was still wearing an ‘A’ for academy on his training kit, which indicates that his ‘promotion’ is more of an informal progression that will see him train with the first-team on a regular basis as opposed to actually being part of the squad.

Forwards Folarin Balogun and Nikolaj Moller were also involved in first-team training along with midfielder Miguel Azeez and defender Ryan Alebiosu.

David Luiz, who missed the win against Chelsea due to illness, trained separately.

Willian is set to still be absent for the game against Brighton & Hove Albion tomorrow due to injury, while Gabirel is also unavailable as he is self-isolating. Thomas Partey isn’t yet fully fit after injury but did train with the squad today.
