Arsenal have confirmed that they have signed 18-year-old Swedish striker Nikolaj Moller from Malmo.
Moller will go into Arsenal’s U23 squad and will provide an alternative option to Folarin Balogun.
Arsenal had also hoped to secure a deal for Hertha Berlin centre-back Omar Rekik (pictured) yesterday.
Rekik, who has been called up by Tunisia at senior level despite being born in Holland, previously spent time at Feyenoord, Manchester City, PSV and Marseille.
According to Chris Wheatley, the 18-year-old is set to join Arsenal in January, when it is anticipated that he will train with the first-team but mainly play for the U23s.
With Daniel Ballard going on loan to Blackpool and the Rekik deal not yet finalised, the U23s are a little short of experienced options at centre-back.
It appears that Harry Clarke and recent arrival Jonathan Dinzeyi will be the first choice partnership, with U18 players such as Zach Awe, Alex Kirk and Mazeed Ogungbo providing backup.
Joseph Olowu will offer another option when he returns from his loan spell at Cork City at the end of this month.
