Trae Coyle scores decisive penalty as Gillingham knock Ben Sheaf’s Coventry out of Carabao Cup

It was a battle of the Arsenal loanees in the Carabao Cup second round tonight, with Gillingham taking on Coventry City.

The game ended 1-1 and went to penalties, with Ben Sheaf successful from the spot for Coventry.

Trae Coyle, who had entered the fray as a substitute, scored the decisive penalty for Gillingham, who won 5-4 on spot kicks.

Gillingham, for whom Zech Medley was an unused substitute, will face Wolverhampton Wanderers or Stoke City away in the third round.

  1. Hi Jeorge. Apologies for this not being related to the above, but more with regard to your recent posting on Arseblog News, re Catalin Cirjan. I`m a brit gooner and have been for decades, but live and work in Romania, and as it happens, a village five minutes from Domnesti, the club that Cirjan was spotted at. I was just wondering, how, he was actually spotted? Was it simply a recommendation? I had watched Domnesti play a few times, and do watch Clinceni (which is the next village) who have in fact, recently been promoted to Liga 1 here in Romania, and who do have some pretty good youth talent too. Anyhoo, as mentioned sorry to bother you, but it would be interesting to know! Very many thanks for your time.
