Bola features and Cirjan called up as Arsenal first-team lose to Aston Villa

Arsenal held a first-team friendly at Emirates Stadium today, with Mikel Arteta’s side losing 3-2 to Aston Villa.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored both of Arsenal’s goals, whilst Willian and Willam Saliba made their first home appearances for the club.

Dani Ceballos was also involved less than 24 hours after rejoining on loan from Real Madrid and Mesut Ozil was given a rare runout.

As far as youngsters are concerned, Tolaji Bola was involved in the game as he added to the experience that he gained against MK Dons recently. The left-back, who can also play as a centre-back in a three-man defence, could make his competitive debut for Arsenal this season.

It was also a significant occasion for Catalin Cirjan, with the Romanian youngster receiving his first senior callup.
