Report – Butler-Oyedeji scores again but Arsenal U18s lose to Blackburn Rovers

U18 Premier League Cup

Arsenal 2 (Ogungbo 22, Butler-Oyedeji 90) Blackburn Rovers 3 (Horlock 24, Lonsdale 49, Zimba 73)

Nathan Butler-Oyedeji scored again but it wasn’t sufficient to prevent Arsenal U18s from losing 3-2 at home to Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League Cup.

There were two alterations from the team that drew with Tottenham Hotspur, with Alex Kirk replacing Joel Lopez, meaning Mazeed Ogungbo moving across to left-back, while Sam Greenwood replaced Alfie Matthews up front.

Arsenal took the lead through an unlikely source, with Mazeed Ogungbo scoring after being found by schoolboy Charlie Patino.

However, Arsenal’s lead lasted just two minutes, with Jared Horlock levelling for Blackburn.

The visitors took the lead early in the second half through Brandon Lonsdale before the in form Chanka Zimba made it 3-1.

Butler-Oyedeji, who has caught the eye recently, scored late on but it proved to be a consolation as Blackburn prevailed.

This was a setback for Arsenal after winning their first game in this competition against Wolverhampton Wanderers, but they still have a chance to progress to the next stage.
