Cirjan scores and Flores makes debut as Arsenal U18s beat Wolves

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 Arsenal 3 (Cottrell 34, Cirjan 39, Matthews 64)

Catalin Cirjan was amongst the scorers as Arsenal U18s started their Premier League Cup campaign with a 3-0 victory away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Arsenal were without Sam Greenwood, Ryan Alebiosu and James Hillson, who were with the U23s, while Joel Lopez was also unavailable.

As a result, Cirjan, Kido Taylor-Hart, Ovie Ejeheri and Matthew Dennis all started, with schoolboys Charlie Patino and Marcelo Flores named on the bench.

Another change saw Ben Cottrell, back from injury, come into the team, with Luke Plange on the bench.

It was Cottrell who put Arsenal ahead in the 34th minute, with Cirjan and Alfie Matthews also later getting on the scoresheet.

Patino and Flores were both brought on in the second half, the latter making his debut at this level.

Arsenal: Graczyk; Dennis (Plange 82), Oyegoke, Kirk, Ogungbo; Azeez, Cottrell (Patino 65); Butler-Oyedeji, Cirjan (Flores 74), Taylor-Hart; Matthews. Subs not used: Ejeheri.
