Kelechi Nwakali’s Arsenal career is over, with the midfielder having joined Spanish second division side Huesca on a permanent basis.
Nwakali arrived at Arsenal three years ago amidst a considerable amount of excitement after he helped Nigeria to win the U17 World Cup in 2015.
However, owing to work permit issues and unconvincing loan spells, Nwakali leaves without having represented Arsenal at any level, competitive or otherwise.
The youngster showed some encouraging signs during his first loan spell, at MVV Maastricht, but a stint at VVV-Venlo was disappointing and he ended up returning to Maastricht.
Last season Nwakali was with Porto’s B team but struggled to make a major impact.
Nwakali trained at London Colney this summer but it became increasingly apparent that he didn’t have a future at the club and he will now seek to kick-start his career in Spain.
