U18 Premier League

West Ham United 1 Arsenal 1 (Plange)

Arsenal U18s secured a point away to West Ham United in difficult circumstances yesterday, with substitute Luke Plange scoring in a 1-1 draw.

There were four changes from the victory against Aston Villa, with Hubert Graczyk, Jason Sraha, Alfie Matthews and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji replacing Karl Hein, Joel Lopez, Ben Cottrell and Kido Taylor-Hart

The young Gunners were already without Cottrell due to injury and then went behind in the sixth minute when Dan Chesters scored.

Following that, there was further frustration for Arsenal, with Sam Greenwood and Jason Sraha both having to go off due to injury in the first 16 minutes.

Kido Taylor-Hart and Henry Jeffcott, the latter making his competitive debut at this level, both entered the fray.

It was Arsenal’s third substitute, Plange, who made the decisive intervention with 13 minutes left to ensure that Ken Gillard’s team avoided defeat.

Arsenal: Graczyk; Alebiosu, Monlouis, Sraha (Jeffcott 16), Ogungbo; Azeez, Cirjan; Dennis (Plange 55), Matthews, Butler-Oyedeji; Greenwood (Taylor-Hart 10). Subs not used: Mitchell, Kirk.
