Reiss Nelson promoted to Arsenal first-team and given number 24 shirt

Reiss Nelson has become the latest Arsenal youngster to be promoted to the first-team and has been given the number 24 shirt.

The winger joins Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock in having been promoted.

Nelson spent last season on loan at Hoffenheim and prior to that made 16 senior appearances for Arsenal, three of which came in the Premier League.

  1. And Kristian Bilik please. We need to give as many of these youthful talent their chances instead of flogging them at the cheap only for them to go elsewhere and shine.

  2. Businessmen new to football still don’t acknowledge the value of investing in tomorrow’s team, and are all too often eager to throw in a youngster too early, only to see them fail. Nelson’s stint in Hoffenheim may have matured him but the club have got to support their assets when away from the club grounds yoo – Lucas Torreira should be a lesson.

    1. Why? Because he played OK in a couple of matches at the end of the league one season?

Bielik has allegedly said he wants to quit the club if he is not in the starting x1.

That’s good to hear, but with seasoned internationals like koscielny Sokratis mustafi and Monreal plus Holding and Mavropanos all seemingly ahead of you, you need to fight with your feet and head not with your mouth. Even Chambers picked up player of the season awards in the premier league last season playing in the positions bielik does. Seeing as Bielik is the baby of the 7 players just mentioned and still doesn’t even count as an over 21 for the coming season he will either have to be patient or back up his words and leave.

The club is currently stocked with players that can play centre back, so much so that they have allowed Daniel Ballard to head out on loan. I cannot see him even being 3rd choice DM, let alone getting to be one of the first 2 choices for the first team.

Let’s see what happens regarding some of those mentioned, I’m hearing Bordeaux are set to offer £15m for Elneny and Koscielny whilst Mustafi and Monreal could all yet depart. Now that will make things easier for Bielik, but would he an extremely risky strategy from Emery

      1. I do think Elneny is a no brainer to go. He just doesn’t really live up to the standards and expectations, so if Bordeaux wants him – great.
Don’t think Emery would let Koscielny go, but Mustafi on the other hand – perhaps.
In my opinion Bielik is much better suited to a DM role, so he’d be a good substitute to our current DM problem (with only Torreira being a more or less real DM in the squad, Xhaka is all over the place…).
And if I remember the interview correctly – he said he wants to play next season. Not that he wants to leave, but that he doesn’t see any positive for him to stay and play in u23. So either get promoted to the first team and train/play there, or get loaned out so that he can get playtime and gain more experience.
