Smith Rowe scores and Pleguezuelo debuts as Arsenal beat Blackpool in Carabao Cup

Arsenal prevailed past Blackpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup fourth round tonight, with Emile Smith Rowe scoring the decisive goal after Stephan Lichtsteiner found the net earlier in the game.

The talented youngster started along with Julio Pleguezuelo, who made his competitive senior debut at the heart of the defence.

Pleguezuelo has had to be incredibly patient for a chance to impress in the first-team having joined the club in 2013 and made over 50 appearances at U23 level as well as having two loan spells.

The Spaniard, who has trained regularly with the first-team this season, was largely composed at the back.

Eddie Nketiah and Joe Willock were unused substitutes, while Arsenal academy products Mark Howard and Marc Bola featured for Blackpool.
