Reiss Nelson assists and impresses as Arsenal beat Benfica in Emirates Cup

Reiss Nelson enhanced his reputation further still with an excellent performance in Arsenal’s 5-2 Emirates Cup victory  over Benfica today.

Again deployed as a right-wing back, Nelson worked hard defensively but most of his good work came going forwards, especially when he provided an assist for Olivier Giroud.

Nelson was confidence in possession and showcased his excellent technical ability as he surely convinced Arsene Wenger that he is worthy of more chances.

  1. Well for me, Nelson looks like he wants to play for Arsenal whereas the ox looks like he a touch of sanchez syndrome. If we got £25m now for the ox and gave Nelson his shortsighted now, I wouldn’t have a problem with that. As long as it’s not a major rival

  2. I’d be interested to get some thoughts on how Nelson and his performances rate alongside say, Zelalem in previous pre-seasons. I’ve been very impressed with him but it strikes me it’s not the first time fans have thought we’ve got a potential world beater on our hands and have prematurely called for more first team action…
