VVV-Venlo confirm Zelalem loan agreement, Bennacer linked with Tours switch

Dutch second division side VVV Venlo have confirmed via Instagram that they have agreed to sign Arsenal midfielder Gedion Zelalem on loan for the rest of the season.

The United States youth international, who had a spell on loan at Rangers last season, has been training with VVV-Venlo since last week and is eager to gain regular playing time having been restricted to just two substitute appearances for the Arsenal first-team this season, both of which came in the EFL Cup.

Zelalem is set to join the growing contingent of Arsenal prospects in Holland. Kelechi Nwakali and Stefan O’Connor are with MVV Maastricht, Dan Crowley is at Go Ahead Eagles and Tafari Moore is with Utrecht.

Meanwhile, another Arsenal midfielder, Ismael Bennacer, is closing in on a loan switch to Ligue 2 side Tours, according to Get Football News France.

Bennacer has just returned to Arsenal after being part of the Algeria squad at the Africa Cup of Nations. He has made one first-team appearance since joining Arsenal from Arles-Avignon in 2015.

Striker Chuba Akpom continues to be linked with a loan move to Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion, while Glen Kamara and a Stephy Mavididi are amongst the other Arsenal youngsters that could go on loan before the transfer window closes tomorrow night.
