Arsenal recall Ryan Huddart from frustrating loan spell at Eastleigh

Arsenal have re-called goalkeeper Ryan Huddart from his loan spell at Eastleigh.

The 19-year-old was initially set to spend the whole campaign with the National League side but the Gunners have now exercised their option to recall him early.

Huddart was restricted to just seven appearances for Eastleigh, two of which came in the FA Cup, and, while he produced some impressive performances, Arsenal were left frustrated by his lack of game time.

An impressive shot stopper, Huddart was an unused substitute for the Arsenal first-team for both Champions League matches against Anderlecht in the 2014/15 season.

  1. Would send Macey and Martinez on loan now. Neither are playing, can’t be great for their development. Huddart can be 3rd choice, and the option to recall Martinez if disaster strikes.

  2. Too many arsenal players don’t see enough minutes when out on loan. It’s an issue the club need to address. Either put in some sort of clause insisting on appearances or keep the players. Unless of course they are simpleton good enough? Then man up and tell them they are not good enough for Arsenal and let them try and carve out a career elsewhere.

  3. How many matches (at levels) have ospina, martinez, macey, iliev, and huddart played between them this season. I bet it’s not more than 20.
