Ainsley Maitland-Niles amongst several youngsters to train with Arsenal first-team ahead of Viking game

Ainsley Maitland-Niles trained with the Arsenal first-team squad today after returning from his involvement with England at the U19 European Championship.

The talented prospect is back at London Colney having spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town, and, while it isn’t currently clear what the plan is for Maitland-Niles this season, he will hope to have impressed manager Arsene Wenger in today’s session.

There were several other youngsters involved in training today, including Chris Willock, Gedion Zelalem and Krystian Bielik, who could play in the game against Viking.

As far as senior players are concerned, Gabriel is back in training after he missed the tour of the United States through tonsillitis, whilst Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey have also returned.

Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck, Per Mertesacker and Carl Jenkinson are all out injured, whilst Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil haven’t yet returned to training after featuring at Euro 2016 this summer.

Serge Gnabry and Takuma Asano are at the Olympics and Wojciech Szczesny is in Italy, with the goalkeeper set to return to Roma on loan.
