Mavididi strikes again as Arsenal beat Sporting Lisbon to keep Durban International Cup hopes alive

Stephy Mavididi found the net once again as Arsenal U19s beat their Sporting Lisbon counterparts 1-0 today to keep their hopes of retaining the Durban International Cup alive.

After suffering a surprise defeat to KZN Academy in their opening group stage fixture, Arsenal were well aware that they could ill afford to slip up against their Portuguese opponents and Mavididi’s strike, his second of the competition, proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Arsenal named a much-changed side for this fixture, with Nathan Tella, Tolaji Bola, Vlad Dragomir, Marcelo Allende and Emile Smith-Rowe all brought into the starting line-up.

Arsenal face Golden Arrows on Monday in their final group game.
