Arsenal midfielder Crowley hoping for greater success in League One with Oxford loan

Arsenal youngster Dan Crowley will spend the entire 2016/17 campaign on loan at League One side Oxford United, it was announced today.

Crowley is no stranger to the third tier of English football after having a short loan spell at Barnsley last season.

While his time with Barnsley was brought to an abrupt end, Crowley will hope to perform with more consistency at Oxford as he looks to edge closer to making the breakthrough at Arsenal.

The 18-year-old joined Arsenal from Aston Villa in 2013, but, although he has featured for the first-team in friendlies, he has yet to make a competitive appearance for Arsene Wenger’s side.

A neat passer of the ball, Crowley occasionally holds on to possession for too long, but he will hope to enjoy a successful campaign out on loan.

Crowley becomes the second Arsenal youngster to depart on temporary transfer this summer following goalkeeper Ryan Huddart, who has linked up with Eastleigh.

  1. I read somewhere that a couple of our youngsters will train with Oxford United and if they impress, they will sign on loan. I really think we should send Willock, bielik or pleguzuelo there

    1. Chris Willock, I feel, has a big pre-season with the first team. Not sure he needs a loan at this stage of his career.
Would have thought the likes of Marcus McGuane, Glen Kamara and maybe Ben Sheaf would be most likely.
