Loan report- Toral scores again; Zelalem returns for Rangers

Birmingham Mail

Jon Toral scored his eight goal of the season as Birmingham City lost 2-1 to Charlton Athletic. The Spaniard finished well after Paul Caddis’ effort took a deflection but had to be taken off at half-time. Yaya Sanogo wasn’t involved for Charlton.

Wojciech Szczesny played the whole game as Roma beat Lazio 4-1.

Gedion Zelalem returned to the fray for Rangers, with the midfielder being introduced as a substitute in the 80th minute of the 3-3 draw with Raith Rovers.

Emiliano Martinez was an un-used substitute for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their goalless draw with Ipswich Town. Ainsley Maitland-Niles wasn’t involved for the visitors.

Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden weren’t involved as Hull City beat Bristol City 4-0.

Wellington didn’t feature as Bolton Wanderers were beaten 1-0 by Reading.

Mathieu Debuchy missed Bordeaux’s 2-1 win over Monaco through injury.

Glen Kamara wasn’t in the squad for Southend United’s 2-0 defeat to Blackpool.

  1. With flamini, Rosicky and artera set to leave in summer there is room for places in team however Toral is the only loan player in the championship to do well I think he and gnabry might benefit from a year in German or Spanish top flight loans like coquelan. I think Wellington did not show enough. Same could apply for the English lads Hayden Akpom and maitland-niles because elneny welback and iwobi have all staked a claim for their positions in senior squad. Hoping zalalem and Crowley can have big seasons on loan in championship next season.
