There were some encouraging signs in Arsenal U18s’ performance away to West Bromwich Albion last weekend, particularly in an attacking sense, but the young Gunners still fell to another defeat as they were beaten 2-1.
Disappointing defending, including a hashed clearance from Kostas Pileas, enabled West Brom to take the lead, but Arsenal eventually levelled when substitute Nathan Tella did well to locate Edward Nketiah, who finished for his 16th goal at this level this season.
It was West Brom who would prevail, however, courtesy of an effort that deflected in off Tolaji Bola.
Having taken just one point from their three fixtures, Arsenal are second bottom in the second tier with four games remaining.
They spurned opportunities to take something from this game, with Yassin Fortune and Vlad Dragomir both unable to find the target when well placed.
One positive, though, was the display of Charlie Gilmour, with the midfielder helping to dictate play with his passing range.
