Arsenal have offered Marc Bola a professional contract.
The Hale End product has been the club’s first choice left-back at U21 level this season, making 12 appearances, while he has also played seven times in the UEFA Youth League.
Bola is physically imposing and provides a regular attacking threat down the left flank. He is also capable of playing at centre-back if required. The 18-year-old trained with the first-team recently and will be hopeful of becoming more heavily involved with Arsene Wenger’s squad in the future.
The news regarding Bola’s deal comes shortly after it emerged that midfielder Savvas Mourgos has also been offered professional terms. If both players accept the club’s offer then it would leave Ilias Chatzitheodoridis as the only remaining second-year scholar. The left-back, who has struggled since joining, is likely to be released.
Of the other 2014 scholars, several players have already progressed to professional terms- Kristopher Da Graca, Kaylen Hinds, Chiori Johnson, Hugo Keto, Stephy Mavididi, Tyrell Robinson, Ben Sheaf, Chris Willock and Aaron Eyoma.
Three members of that intake- Jonatas Centeno, George Dobson and Harry Donovan- have left the club and are currently playing for Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham United and Millwall respectively.
