Arsenal midfielder Glen Kamara is poised to rejoin his former club Southend United on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old made his first-team debut for Arsenal in the Capital One Cup defeat to Sheffield Wednesday this season, but the arrival of Mohamed Elneny has pushed him further down the pecking order with the Gunners.

Kamara has trained with the Arsenal first-team on many occasions over the past couple of seasons but his chances of making the grade at the club seem rather slim and the Finland youth international will be seeking to prove his worth in League One.

Kamara initially left Southend in 2012 when he was offered scholarship terms by Arsenal and he has been a mainstay for the Gunners’ youth sides in the ensuing period.

  1. Good move for the lad and this is one I expect to become permanent. He is a decent player, but even with the likely departure of arteta rosicky and flamini in the summer. He is way behind ozil, coquelin, cazorla, wilshire, Ramsey, elneny and even chambers and chamberlain in pursuit of one of the 3 midfield roles. Then there is also hayden, toral, bielik, sheaf, crowley, willock and iwobi who all seem to have a brighter future at arsenal than him. Plus I expect at least 1 more midfielder to join when the 3 elder statesmen depart.

  2. Jb – obvious why iwobi (first team) kamara (loan) and Robinson (suspended) are all out today, but any idea why bielik and sheaf are missing? Could there be loan moves being touted for them too? Or injured?
