It has been a busy day with regards to Arsenal’s youngsters, with three players agreeing new deals, whilst another, in an unexpected turn of events, is now unlikely to return to the club.
Firstly defender Tolaji Bola has signed professional terms with Arsenal after turning 17 earlier this week.
The England youth international, who can play at centre-back or left-back, has featured prominently for Arsenal’s U18 side this season and is set to be added to the club’s Champions League squad next month.
Meanwhile, fellow defender Tafari Moore has signed fresh terms with the club.
The 18-year-old right-back has struggled with injuries over the past couple of campaigns but featured prominently for Arsenal’s U21 side during his first season as a scholar.
Moore could well go on loan next season in order to further his development. His previous deal was set to expire at the end of the campaign.
It has also been confirmed that, as expected, midfielder Gedion Zelalem will remain on loan at Rangers for the rest of the season. The midfielder has made 15 appearances for the Scottish side.
Elsewhere, in a rather strange development, it has emerged that Isaac Hayden could be set to remain on loan at Hull City for the remainder of the campaign.
It was initially thought that Hayden, having grown frustrated with his lack of game time at the KC Stadium, would temporarily return to Arsenal before being sent out on loan elsewhere.
However, it now appears that Hayden could stay with Hull after a loan move to Fulham failed to materialise.
Arsenal are reportedly in discussions about terminating Serge Gnabry’s loan deal with West Bromwich Albion, but an agreement between all parties is yet to be reached.
Finally, Stefan O’Connor’s loan spell with York City expires today and, although no official announcement has been made, it could well be the case that the defender will return to Arsenal for treatment on an injury he suffered against Yeovil Town last weekend.
