Loan report- Szczesny keeps another clean sheet; O’Connor makes important intervention

Chuba Akpom struck the post twice and sent another effort over as Hull City lost 2-0 to Rotherham United. The striker, who was criticised by manager Steve Bruce for his reaction to being substituted in midweek, played the whole game on this occasion. Isaac Hayden was again an un-used substitute.

Wojciech Szczesny kept a clean sheet as Roma beat Genoa 2-0.

Jon Toral played 69 minutes and came close to scoring as Birmingham City beat Cardiff City 1-0.

Stefan O’Connor played 64 minutes and made a vital goal-line clearance as York City secured a rare win by beating Morecambe 2-1.

Carl Jenkinson was introduced as an 85th minute substitute and featured on the right wing as West Ham United drew 0-0 with Swansea City.

Jenkinson was booked for delaying a Swansea throw-in, but he did create a good chance for Nikica Jelavic late on.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles started and played 63 minutes as Ipswich Town lost 1-0 to Derby County.

Emiliano Martinez was again absent because of injury as Wolverhampton Wanderers lost 4-1 to Sheffield Wednesday.

Gedion Zelalem didn’t feature as Rangers were beaten 2-1 by Falkirk.

Wellington missed out through injury as Bolton Wanderers drew 2-2 with Fulham.

Yaya Sanogo wasn’t included in the squad as Ajax beat De Graafschap 2-1.

Serge Gnabry wasn’t in the West Bromwich Albion squad for the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.

  1. Any sense of why zelalem was left out this week? He’s missed a couple squads recently, right?

And sorry for the uneducated question but when someone only plays like 60ish minutes, do you read that as a sign of a bad performance?
