Reine-Adelaide scores in shootout but France go out of U17 World Cup

Arsenal no longer have any representatives at the FIFA U17 World Cup as Jeff Reine-Adelaide’s France side exited the tournament in heartbreaking fashion last night.

Reine-Adelaide played the entire game and sent an effort over the crossbar early on as his side were beaten on penalties by Costa Rica following a goalless draw after extra-time.

Reine-Adelaide successfully converted his penalty in the shootout, but it wasn’t enough to prevent France from exiting the competition.

It remains to be seen when the winger will return to club action, with players usually given a period of rest after participating in international tournaments.

  1. I’m so glad that France are out, lets hope Reine-Aderlaide will be available soon for us. I think he would be the best right wing option against Tottenham. With all the injuries we have got surely he can survive until the next international break without a rest.
