Carl Jenkinson played the whole game as West Ham United beat Chelsea 2-1. The defender helped to prevent Kurt Zouma’s header from crossing the line.

Chuba Akpom played 86 minutes and had a penalty claim turned down as Hull City beat Birmingham City 2-0. Isaac Hayden returned to the squad and was an un-used substitute, whilst Jon Toral played the last eleven minutes for Birmingham.

Wojciech Szczesny played the whole game and was also booked as Roma beat Fiorentina 2-1.

Emiliano Martinez kept goal but was unable to prevent Wolverhampton Wanderers from losing 3-1 to Middlesbrough.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles played the entirety of Ipswich Town’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. The winger suffered a slight injury but was fine to continue.

Gedion Zelalem returned to the Rangers side and completed 61 minutes before being replaced by fellow academy graduate Dean Shiels in the 1-0 victory over St Mirren.

Dan Crowley was substituted at half-time as Barnsley were beaten 1-0 by Fleetwood Town. The midfielder had one attempt which went over.

Wellington missed Bolton Wanderers’ 1-1 draw with Leeds United because of injury. The winger is expected to be out of action for around ten weeks.

Serge Gnabry was again left out of the squad as West Bromwich Albion beat Norwich City 1-0. The winger did, however, feature and score for the Baggies at U21 level last week.

Yaya Sanogo is continuing to struggle with a groin injury and, as a consequence, didn’t feature as Ajax beat Vitesse 3-1.

  1. Thanks for your updates George. What is your take on Zelalem.

He earned a few rave reviews but now it looks like things have gone a bit quiet. How is he doing at rangers and is he close to our first team squad level?

    1. the reason why things for zelalem have gone quiet at Rangers, is that the lad was away with the USA U23 team for a few weeks, and got injured there, he was only fit to return last weekend, which he did.
